It’s been awhile since I last posted, but wanted to give an update. I had a bilateral mastectomy in June and started the reconstruction process at the same time with tissue expanders. The surgery went fine (the drains were really annoying) and the following week I received great news. The pathology report showed that my cancer was “completely responsive” to the chemo – meaning...

Next Wednesday I will be going in to have a bilateral mastectomy and the start of reconstruction with the implantation of tissue expanders to stretch the skin. For a few days I thought about whether or not to delay reconstruction. My oncologist had told me that I may need to have radiation after surgery and I won’t know if I do until after the biopsy results come back. Reconstruction is more...

I’ve had another MUGA scan done, about 3 chest x-rays, EKGs, etc. to see if they could find the reason to no avail. On...

This second phase of chemo using Adriamycin, Cytoxan and Avastin sucks! Last week, I ended up in the hospital twice. The first time to do tests to make sure I did not have a pulmonary embolism because I was experiencing shortness of breath and an EKG because my heart kept racing. The second time to get fluids pumped into me because I experience such terrible indigestion that I can hardly eat or drink...
